Chris Winters
[television/film actor]
Chris Winters was born on November 7th in a small town outside of Richmond, VA called Hopewell. All of his family members still live in or around there today including his parents, step-parents and 3 siblings, Patrick, Melissa and April.
He was one of those well-known latch-key kids whose parents work throughout the day so the kids come home to an empty house. With so much time on his hands, Chris became interested in many things like science fiction, drawing comic books, writing stories, and re-inventing scenes by the means of a tape recorder. He tended to obsess over the current project he happened to be working on. For example, in second grade, Chris liked to draw pictures of railroads crossings, science fiction, mountains, and bridges. In particular interest, that caught Chris’ young attention was one specific bridge named Benjamin Harrison in Charles County, Virginia. Chris found out that the bridge had been destroyed by a tanker and he was affected by it. He kept drawing the bridge from memory and tried his best to investigate what had caused it to be destroyed. This obsession he had with detail, eventually led to quality traits to improve on whatever he set his mind to.
Chris had a normal childhood up until his teen years, when his rebelliousness forced him to change his outlook on life. He didn’t do very well in high school due to his boredom with classes and wanting to leave his hometown because he felt it wasn't 'fast' or inventive enough. So instead, Chris set his mind to doing various other things to occupy his time. He had an urge to create. He discovered that he loved writing. He found that he liked writing short stories and music. So, along with his friend, Randy Kelly, they tried forming a band called the 3 Bad Rockers. The band consisted of Randy Kelly, James Lewis, and himself and was dubbed the “Beastie Boys type” but, due to the ever changing of Chris Winters' goals and being bored in the city he was in, the band disbanded. Chris wanted excitement. The only excitement that aroused him were stunts, bike riding in dangerous places, like freeways, and jumping off of high things. He liked to push the limits to see how much he could get away with. By doing these things, he never realized that he was setting standards for himself that were either dangerous or out of reach. This would eventually lead Chris to feelings of being confined to his limits and a low self opinion.
After graduating high school, a friend recommended that Chris try getting into modeling. Without much information to go on, he found that the resources to push further in that type of career where arduous to obtain. So, he tried doing other things such as small films with friends, some comedy bits and then eventually gave up to pursue a career in the HAZmat industry, again due to lack of resources. Chris enjoyed the HAZmat world because of its dangerous excitement, but he wanted to revisit his creativity side once more. He wanted more for himself so, he decided to get into a field where he thought he could better himself. Computers. He studied very hard to become an application developer, using the C++ language. By his mid-twenties, he had already worked for companies like General Electric. He eventually moved from the DC area to Virginia Beach, VA to work with internet security leader, Symantec Corporation. Although he accomplished his main goals by achieving his hobby, creative side, and career wise, he wanted to challenge himself further.
That's when he met up with a local female model and photographer in the Virginia Beach area. They both sparked the interest in his mind to rethink his modeling career. That is when Chris Winters started to re-invent himself as he watched and studied various models and their work. However, as he began to get into the world of imagery once again, he realized that he wanted to challenge his creative side as well as his future path. That's when his inspirations kicked in and his old creative self took over. Chris created a belief to use his body along with his surrounding environment. He did not care for the standard model poses and decided to use other tactics to get really great pictures more like art. He believed that a model or a good photo consists of a person, its surrounding environment and the way you twist yourself and the character you can become. That was the year that Chris Winters began to work on himself, his confidence, and his ability to create great imagery. He was on a mission. Chris began traveling to different parts of the United States, working with great photographers and marketing himself. Chris dubbed the 2005 year as "Alive in '05", as the title best described his mission and his accomplishments.
His next move: Acting, his discovered life long passion.
Chris started attending acting sessions with acting coaches. Antonio Zarro, Kelley Davis, and Karen Whitlow were his first coaches and helped him realize the passion of acting. He studied various aspects within acting, such as camera techniques and scene study. One of Chris' weaknesses was fast speaking. Chris was always known for speaking really fast. Once he began to understand his inner self and the principles of acting, he went running with it. He began getting feature roles in local television commercials, including Gateway Bank, Arby's, and other local spots. Once again his challenges were raised, as Chris Winters sought higher ground in national television. That's where Subaru came in. A friend suggested he go for the casting and submission of Subaru. He met the people who did the production and got a spot within their ad. From that point on, Chris was hooked in being in front of the camera. It was finally the excitement he craved along with the rush, and pleasure of meeting and working with so many people.
Cable TV's Discovery Channel was another introduction to the film/television world. Chris was featured in two episodes of the F.B.I. Files, a show that had various stories of true F.B.I. crime scene investigations. Of these two episodes, "Casino Bomber" and "Stolen Identity", Chris had two featured roles. Soon after, he was cast in Helen Cunningham's "Swallowed", where Chris played a problematic person who was an alcoholic.
Chris Winters began his career with a bang after the year 2005. After a call from casting Directors at New Dominion, he learned that he fit the part of a role that soon became one of the best episodes of the season. That one episode was Discovery Channel's "A Haunting: Ghost Soldier" [New Dominion Pictures]. Discovery Channel ran the episode a few times and Chris began to get noticed. He got feature and lead roles in various independent films.
Currently, Chris Winters has entered the Romance World where discovered by an author and a producer. He attended the Romantic Times convention where Fabio and Adrian Paul once started, and gain momentum by published and non published authors. In addition to this, Chris has once again raised the challenge stick by applying for many indie features, as well as internet show pilots. You can find Chris Winters through the internet, in calendars, in publications, and even in various independent films.
While Chris Winters enjoys his time working in acting and modeling, he really enjoys reading, and working on his new story: Invisible War. In addition, Chris Winters enjoys working out, cooking, writing to his fans, and working on his website.
